How is it a sad day?! That old bastard and his bad management have been our biggest problem. He fires the first coach to get us a winning season since 2002? I'm not sorry. Maybe now the team will turn around.

I agree. But a long time ago he apparently did some good stuff.

And who the fuck knew the Raiders have the 2nd best playoff record in the NFL? Not me.

The game passed him by and he wasn't able to evolve with it. Instead of going more hands-off and letting his coaches do their jobs he kept to the "General Manager" ideal and ran the team into the ground. Then he proceeded to blame everybody but himself. Now that he's out of the way the team has a chance, I hope they do something with it. Davis had the answer back in the '80's, unfortunately he was convinced that he always had the answer, and that it was the same thing. If he had died 20 years ago I'd be sad, now I'm relieved, hopeful, and happy.

And while he ran off some good coaches, Gruden is a team-killer.

Word is Al's son will inherit the team. Nice win over the Texans today.
