In your travels you have probably heard that Harley engines shake. That is a fact. You have probably also heard that Buell XBikes have Harley-Davidson based engines. They do. At idle the turn signals on my XB will jump around like they are trying to pick up broads at the club.

The engine in this bad boy will shake absolutely every single nut and bolt loose on this motorcycle if you let it.

Yesterday, while on a ride with some others, OTB and I switched bikes. As he pulled out of the parking lot a head of me I noticed the left rear turn signal dangling. I think to myself. Upon inspection I notice both signals have worked loose. No biggie...as I the nuts are inside the tail section...so they weren't lost along the road. Lost a reflector...but who needs those.

Here is a step by step recount of how the turn signals were fixed.

Step 1. Put bike on rear stand.

Step 2. Remove cowl.

Step 3. Remove seat.

Step 4. Remove rear body work.

Step 5. Locate problem.

Step 6. Apply Lock-Tite so problem doesn't come back. Also applied to every bolt that could fall out.

Step 7. Reassemble and polish away finger prints. Job done.

Tools used:
Screw driver with TORX bit.

Also dialed in a little more preload while the seat was off.

I also likes to keep my shit clean...so I wiped down the subframe while the body work was off.

u sure the ol blue loc-tite will handle the vibrations? I woulda thought the factory, knowing the vibration would cause issues, would have used rubber or lock washers to prevent the situation.

Blue seems to work. Nothing has fallen out since I've put it one.

You might want to apply some of that blue lock-tite to your teeth so those don't fall out.
