More snake rescuing..
This little fellow was sunning himself at my mother in laws after church today. He was so docile. He went into the trash can of his own accord and made quite a show of it getting out. He was really big!
Crappy cell pics, sorry. |

Looks like a chicken snake
They're constrictors and fairly harmless... unless you keep chickens or small rodents as pets or livestock.

It's a Black Rat snake. Chicken snake is the slang term I suppose? Very common around here. We had a gorgeous one that lived under our house for many years. Brandon got to see it eat a baby bird a few years ago. That was interesting. I think my animal hating neighbor finally killed him. I never thought to take him to live anywhere else but I guess I should have. We get a lot of mice from the hay field across the road so we wanted him here! |

I love the black rats. My grandpa had a little farm and we loved them there cause they kept away the rats. We didn't like the 10 that got in his attic though.

Pretty good size. We have a couple of Brown snakes living in our flower beds. I caught one of them the other day and moved him since we were powerwashing our deck...didn't want to kill the little bugger.
I got cold feet when I went to pick him up so I put on a gaunlet style motorcycle glove...just in case. He is about 12 " long. |
