Hey Kirsty!
Are you still on mat leave, or do you have a hospital full of national superbike racers to take care of now?

No more than normal I would say, but Francis and Alex ended up in "a Halifax hospital."
If half of our staff hadn't been on vacation last week, I'd have flown out there for it. *EDIT* This is what Larry Tate (Inside Motorcycles, CMG Online, Toronto Star...) had to say on it: Others who'd fallen in various practice and race sessions weren't so lucky, with 14-year-old Royce McLean, Szoke's Kawasaki team-mate Alex Welsh, BMW's Francis Martin, and Atlantic Racing League organizer Terry Steeves all in a Halifax hospital with various injuries, some quite severe (Martin and Steeves especially, both suffering vertebrae fractures). Too bad about McLean. The kid is scary fast and coming along nicely.

This remark came from Rick Nelson, Andrew Nelson's father:
Many many crashes. We pitted on the short row to the washrooms and right after the AM 600 race, just before Andy goes out for the superbike race, the crash truck unloaded 5 bikes within 50 feet of us...I can't imagine how many were dropped off before the crash truck came by us!

Damm... Terry Steves went down with broken bits... I had to miss the Nationals this year due to having a 16 day old infant Too hot at the track...
Would have been busy times at the ER. I have taken care of National racers before. They look perplexed when I ask them what turn they crashed in and then discuss the track lay out. |

I had a feeling that you wouldn't have been around either location for it, but thought it was at least worth mentioning. Sounds like quite the crash-fest, though I think it's like that every year....?

I don't think the NS racetrack is very nice(at least compared to the one in my backyard)
did Szoke win again?

No, it was McCormick by something like 5 seconds. There's only a 14 point difference in Superbike right now, so it'll be worth going to Shannonville for the final.
