If the plastic is correct for the years of the bike, he's wrong.

Those are a '98 and 2000 model. I have a 2000, so I'd hope I recognize it.

Also, WTF is wrong with them?

Thats what I am wondering. if the bodywork is good and its minor stuff you could turn around and sell each of tyem for close to if not 4k.
