I dont work, so this isnt an issue. when I worked with mexicans they'd ALWAYS break shit, and FIND new ways to fuck shit up more so I was always the mechanic and stuck at work til midnight fixing their shit so it'd be ready for morning, or working on a new machine to have as the backup. and this was the normal thing for me. lawn mowers, curbing equipment, day to day toys of ALL kinds.

I'm in maint. and if I have to deal with one more window licker pushing the E-stop and calling me "Cuz dis muh...fuckah aint doin nuttin no mo...an I aints do sheeit to dis muh...fuckah...brah..." I'm gonna snap. And on a side note...at our all hands meeting today, we had a guy give awards(@$200!!!) to his underlings and he nominated himself for the award...for more efficiently sending information to India, for a company over there to draw up blueprints...HE MORE EFFICIENTLY SENT OUR WORK TO FUCKING INDIA AND THEY REWARDED THIS FUCKTARD!!!!!!!!!!AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!By the way, we all have the best cad software and a huge set of plotters and printing machines at our disposal. Rant over. Gracias.

Interesting observation; I've not really noticed this until I read your comment. I would have to agree, as many of the tech people I work with enjoy building / fixing / tweaking things, as I do. I've never made the connection before your post. I like woodworking (just an amateur, mind you), home improvements, making things work, etc.

For me I think it's not just the satisfaction of seeing something to completion, but creating something more tangible then the things I architect at my job.

To their defense, when you deal with retards 100x a day, every day you have to start with the most basic things and work your way up. EVERY tech support person has dealt with at LEAST one person who's computer wasn't working, just to find out they didn't have the monitor on.

I'm glad I surround myself with competent staff. Unfortunately it appears a lot of the time as if the account team and outside sales people didn't get the memo... I think that's less of a competence issue and more of a '1,000 miles away and have never shared the same environment/challenges issue'... more of a misunderstanding of the other's needs than anything.
