Did you look at the new XDm 3.8? I hear a lot of good things about it by those that like the M's but don't want a full service size pistol.
That is a good price on the XD though.

Good choice. Rumor is the XDm .45 should be out soon. Maybe as soon as a few weeks.

I don't care to have a 45. I want it for cheaper range shooting, which you can't get any cheaper than 9mm.
