Totally, a very arguable advantage that nobody has mentioned yet. Floatability. All it is is a 2 wheeled version of this bad boy

Add some helium and you could fly the thing too

Obviously, it's gonna be slow...but is this any advantage on the highway in terms of smoothness? Stability? Ride comfort?

I mean, sure it looks like ass, but does it ride like ass in every single capacity, or is there any arguable advantage to such a setup?

I understand that customization is a very personal thing, and just because I think it's stupid, doesn't mean it doesn't float someone else's boat...I'm just wondering if ANY argument can be made in the defense of such a modification as having improved characteristics in ANY way?

...Or is it just ugly, and dangerous?
I can't really think of any possible advantages. While the steering may be a bit more stable at really high speeds on the highway I haven't heard of GSXRs with factory tires going in to spontaneous tank slappers while riding straight.

Alternatively, the detriments with these modifications are huge. 1) The width of the rear would make the bike less inclined to turn. Doing the same to the front will have an even larger effect. 2) By adding the much heavier wheel and tire up front their gyroscopic effect will (I think) require way more force to actually turn the bike. 3) Those same heavy wheels and tires are unsprung mass. This makes the job the suspension has to do controlling that mass more difficult as well. 4) The wheels and tires are also rotational mass. The bike has essentially had a giant flywheel added which makes the engine work harder to accelerate the bike and the brakes work harder to slow it down.

The bike was designed specifically to have excellent acceleration, handling, and braking. The mods that have been done combine to get rid of all of that.

Pretty much what I was thinking (and it's all nice and futuristic-looking and shit).

I'm guessing something like that tends to act much like a dart, and wouldn't like to change directions much.

Nah, I get boy racer; I was a kid once...but usually there's at least a glimmer of legitimacy in hotrodding shit. There used to be, anyway. No?

Other than the steamroller visual, it's a pretty total fail, as mods go.

Perhaps I'm just old...
