Reminds me of the old local story of a couple transvestites that got into a fight and the one broke into the others house with a sword and killed him/her.

As far as I'm concerned... death is an occupational hazard of being a criminal.

Good catch.

Seems they think all the damage was done in one motion and his hand was nearly severed.

Some info on the dead guy from the Baltimore Sun article:
Quote:
Rice, of the 600 block of East 27th St. in Baltimore, had 29 prior convictions for crimes such as breaking and entering, Guglielmi said. He had been released Saturday from the Baltimore County Detention Center, where he had been held after his arrest by county police last year for stealing a car in the city. He was found guilty in December of unauthorized removal of property and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Twenty-nine prior convictions and only released from jail that Saturday. Get this kid a medal.

Wow - good for him! Home defender 1, Habitual criminal 0 & game over.

Regarding training & quality of weapon, I gotta think that if an unarmed scumbag were coming at me, I'm pretty sure I would have a good chance of taking care of business with a $10 machete & zero training.

Apparently the thief didn't. I'd love to know what he was thinking when a figure stepped through the door carrying a sword. Had to seem pretty surreal, right up until the pain hit (which had to be beyond excruciating).
