It seems half and half here.. some places type something from the license into the register, but a lot still just visual check.

There was one gas station that scanned ID's when I was in college but there machine kept breaking so they hardly used it. But they scanned mine and my roommates one time.

Are all states putting magnetic strips on DL's now? MI does but when I lived in CA and WA they didn't have them.

How long ago was that?

I'd guess most states have gone that route by now.

FL went from the old laminated license to the cc-like license about 12-15 years ago.

I've had a DL for 8 years (in CA) and have always had a magnetic strip on mine.

There is only one bar (that I know of) in town that does this. Being a big college town I am surprised more places don't.
