I've been broken into twice during previous Christmas(es?). Both times it was drug skells looking for stuff they could make a quick buck on. Both times met with hardware... wasn't a happy ending for them.

Haven't had a problem now in over 20 years...knock on wood....

PS...

in Maryland, at least, if you are going to shoot somebody, they had better be IN YOUR HOUSE and armed or YOU are going to jail.

If you shoot somebody who is unarmed, or who is retreating, you are gonna be in a world of hurt.

Not saying it's right, it's just the way it is....

PPS...

My congratulations on keeping a cool head and a strong response.
After he emptied out his shorts, I would imagine he had time to reflect on the glory of life and what a lucky little fucker he was....

Now make sure that you have a locking gun safe so when he and his little band of texting friends come back they can't steal your iron....

What kind of dog do you have?

If I were a thief I wouldn't have fucked around with a house with a dog, regardless of size. Even if the dog is too small to hurt you, the noise would have me panicked... of course, I'm not a douche who B&E's either...

I bet Lola gets good presents for Christmas this year. Good to hear it worked out well for you.
must be the economy or something, my dog foiled a would be crook a couple years ago. guess he thought way out in the sticks who would catch him. never thought everybody out there has dogs and guns. LOL I think it was one of the reasons the girlie took up shooting, it kind of bothered her I think. she was the one home not me.
