Me? I just wait until the battery dies, or I do full reset when it locks up occasionally (all computers lock up).

It was already having problems anyway, the battery would not hold a charge for more than a day(unused) after a full recharge.

My wife has a 1st Gen Nano I bought her 4 years ago. Still running strong.
