I suppose it is much easier to say to yourself, "Oh, well Bush is going to protect us from those freedom-hating leftists." or "Thank God Obama is here to change Washington." than it is to attempt to understand what is going on around you and try to take responsibility for it.

I'm in no way saying that all the stuff BG or any other conspiracy theorist posts is true or even based in reality. I'm just saying its always worse to be ignorant and shun than to discuss and understand....because if you (as a collective society) don't, then you're inviting the creation and execution of a police state atmosphere.
We are "fucked as a society" because seeing repeated threads about a hundred thousand UN soldiers being clandestinely based in Colorado that nobody ever sees or talks about so they are prestaged for the planned internationalist takeover of America after a manufactured disaster gets old?

I was fine with BG, but discussing his posts was a futile exercise because he couldn't back up his allegations except with conspiracy websites and anything that refuted those allegations was ignored. It was a number of years ago so I'm not sure, but I don't believe I ever joined in on the off topic bash fests his posts could generate. He really did seem like a nice enough guy and the way I see it the creation of the Gorilla Cage was more to stop the off topic bashing than because people couldn't handle the truth or whatever. I never met BG and didn't know him at all, but nothing in Castor's post surprises me in the least.

One other thing, my inclination to believe these kinds of things doesn't change a bit whoever the resident of the White House is at the time.

Its hard to discuss a point when you're under attack from a bunch of different posters. The atmosphere in a BG thread was always, "This guy's a fucking wacko, lets demand proof of this bullshit while we make fun of him" There was always only one guy on the BG side, and that was BG himself...You know what I mean?

Not all of his posts had to do with the UN being stationed in USA....

"You thought we had 50 states? Nope. We've learned there's 10 sectors ruled by 10 people you didn't vote for. You support your local police? That's nothing when they've got the military ready to take over," he says. "And here's what's worse: They're doing it all in the name of national security...I'd rather face the dangers than lose my freedom."
Being as I work for a HRF/CERFP unit now... that entire statement is laughable, in my opinion. Yes, the National Guard is set to react to natural disasters and terrorist attacks... just as we have always been. But in those cases, we (as in HRF/CERFP) work in conjunction with both military and civilian emergency personnel to help mitigate damage and loss of life in the event of an incident, and we have the personnel and assets to respond within 6 hours until FEMA can mobilize and take over the operation. Then we go home. We work with FEMA and their assets, but ultimately we answer to the authority of the Governor (unless they mobilize us on to title 10 USC, or federal, orders.. in which case we can get sent wherever by the President). FEMA still answers to the President... so how are those "10 sectors" not answering to someone people didn't vote for? We don't vote for the Secretary of Defense either, but I don't hear him bitching about that.

I can't speak for what they plan for the active duty guys to do in those sorts of incidents, though. My (admittedly limited) experience in this stuff is only from the National Guard side.

And if those alleged 'coffins' were such a secret, then 2 guys plus a cameraman would never have been allowed to get that close to them.

I had at least one discussion with BG that didn't devolve to that, but you are right that most did, though I don't think I was involved on that side of it. Except for the "fucking wacko" and "while we make fun of him" parts I don't see a problem with the statement you just made. I was never (that I recall) on BG's side, but the way I remember it I was civil in what little discussions I had with him.

Saying they were all about UN soldiers in Colorado was hyperbole but that was one discussion in particular I do remember having with BG. I see nothing wrong with asking for some sort of proof. When the response is only conspiracy websites some credibility is lost. After enough of those times occur little credibility remains. Once that happens it is inevitable that posts by that individual will be met with either crickets or abuse. Taking those posts out of "the flow of traffic" so to speak is not a disservice, it is a favor.

Not all, but a good chunk of them

It's pretty hard to take someone seriously when he just tosses out something completely out of left field, then gets confused and upset that you don't automatically agree with him

It's hard to take someone seriously when they believe that even the most mundane of common occurrences are somehow linked to one of several grand conspiracies that would involve hundreds or thousands of people keeping absolutely lip-tight about it. Just saying.

You mean someone who, while criticizing the government for not being able to do anything right, is simultaneously saying that they could organize thousands of people to all tell the same bogus story?
