Damn, forgot another one. Footfall - Niven & Pournelle. It would probably make a good movie, if people could get past the fact that the Earth is being invaded by baby elephants with ray guns.

i feel the same way. i don't think i've read a fiction based book in 15 years. every book i read in college was based on a war or time period. and the last book i read was The Loan Survivor by Marcus Luttrell...For all you military folk i highly recommend it
