nice thing about the cherokees... is with a sawzall you can fit 33's stock... if you wanna go to 31's just do a suspension lift... no body... no need and body lifts suck IMO

Especially with unibody frames
I have an '01 Cherokee. 2" Rubicon lift (RE5150) with 31" tires. Still rides nice, better visability and the 31" tires didn't require changing the gear ratios in both rears Search "Jeff in PA" on JeepForum.com and I have detailed instructions for doing the lift. Also, if it's a '99 or later, you have to do a transfer case drop to keep the driveline vibes away.
