I think its activision or ea is wanting to sell games and have features locked untill you pay extra.

my PSP maintains my freakin' sanity when I'm on a plane for 3 hours and Little Johnny is in the back of the plane screaming at the top of his lungs.

Online gaming wouldn't help much there.

True there are flights with WIFI and such but it's expensive as hell and the connections suck for streaming.

Um I had this back in the 90s... Sega TV or something. You paid $15/month and played all you wanted. Cool idea, imho. As far as being able to play offline, no one said that they were going to completely stop selling game disks, any more than "On Demand" or Netfix has completely eliminated movie sales.

I wouldn't mind the option anyway.

Uh, how about a flat montly fee... fuck buying games. I have games that I've bought and only played for an hour... You get sick of a game, there's potentially an endless supply at your finger tips.

Except with onlive you have to buy the game AND pay the monthly fee. You dont just pay the fee and play whatever you want. If it was like that, it would be awesome. But it'd be difficult to make deals with publishers to have an open cloud service like that.

There is no monthly fee currently... Again, I'm not saying OnLive is going to take over the console market, but I think the technology certainly could...

Maybe it won't completely replace the portables market, but other than being out in BFE or on an airplane, I cannot think of any place a portable version would work if it piggy-backed off of the cell phone network.

I think cloud gaming is a great idea in some ways, but it hurts the industry in a lot of ways. While developers hate used game sales, its currently whats keeping the few places I can preorder games at in business. It takes away your own physical copy (do you think I trust MS or Sony to keep my gaming library online for the rest of my gaming life?), which is especiallially damning if your a collector.

It has a lot of pluses too. Instant games, no more running to game shops. But also no more trade-ins or the like either. Want to sell your console? Cant do that with On-live or the like. It just has a lot of downfalls that needs to be addressed.

But enough of that, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is fucking amazing.
