Well yeh it kinda makes sense to me, time travel is theoretically possible (click me), however how in the hell did they have a ton of light bulbs that worked and planes that flew and all sorts of stuff that needs a whole whole support system to keep it going.

Yeh time travel is a little out there I know that, but with advances in technology, especially by a self aware computer who would quite possibly spend a very large amount of its time and resources doing research.

No Arnold no care. He made that franchise what it is, and now that he's gone, they're just trying to suck it dry of money. It had decent graphics, but the story is a bit shallow.

Speaking of picking on flaws of the movie, they have a complete hanger and all kinds of aircraft. Shouldn't the supercomputer of the future be able to locate that facility? I mean their using infrared on the HKs/flying machines, couldn't they just send those things out on patrol all over the place? Especially since everything is manufactured on an assembly line.

Spoiler:
They sorta explained it that they were able to hold some ground, southern california was under resistance control, although skynet did send some robots to hunt them it was still more concerned with securing the areas it already it already had control over and rounding up the people in that area. If i were to place a bet skynet was more interested with winning the war through attrition, even though it wasn't winning massive battles it would still be able to slowly kill off the people faster than we could procreate. It also seemed that it was still very interested in getting rid of Conner and his father than anything else. Thats pretty much what the whole movie was about, killing conner and his father, with a bonus for blowing up the resistance sub.

Okay I haven't seen this movie but in a general reply to your questions...

If you have AI human like robots, there were stages of less than complete AI equipment developed. Like self sustaining factories and maintenance droids. You don't jump from what we have to terminators without several developmental stages in between. Heck, in other movies they explain "wasteland equipment" with airtight military bunkers like NORAD, etc. In any case, the producers obviously gave the audience too much credit in assuming that they didn't need to explain the details.

I also always have a problem with "time travel" movies. I always wonder why the bad guys give up with just one try? Shit that kinda goes for any diabolical plan. If you were foiled by just a millisecond the first time, learn from your mistakes and run the same plan again!

Or just come back the second time two minutes sooner and blow em away, or two seconds after you were destroyed and be all like, " Ya, that's right. This is the way I roll" And BLAM!!!

Haha well they "dubbed" his face over a pro bodybuilder Roland Kickinger, noted for one of the guys of the new who looks alot like Arnold in his prime.

I liked it. The Terminator franchise has never had any real story, its always been about the action and this movie had some very good action sequences.

Terminator Story:
1. John Connor hates robots.
2. Robots hate John Connor
3. John Connor tries to kill robots.
4. Robots try to kill John Connor
5. John Connor tries not to die.

Repeat.

I have to agree, I liked it for all the reasons that above plus Arnold's cameo. I don't thing anyone will be thanking the academy, but it was entertaining bubblegum for the brain.

Like Rae I was going into it with an "bleh, let's see how bad the f'k up this one..."

they didn't do too bad. yeah, the ending was way too predictable...

yeah, they needed more plot.

But what I did like, was they didn't go overly stupid w/ bullshit CGI. It was nice and well balanced.

My roomie and I also got into the discussion on "supportability." How are they able to have all that weaponry based off "old school" stuff when everything was blown the fuck up when Skynet attacked?

And those who saw the film.... how 'bout that shot of downtown LA. Wouldn't that of been flattened when they nuked the fuck out of it? C'mon man...

exactly. it was entertainment. just try to watch it for it's own movie worthiness and not try to tie too much into it.

That's the one thing that sort of throws me off the franchise. The machines go back in time to kill John Connor. John Connor sends someone back in time to stop them. The fact that John Connor is still alive to send someone back in time shows you right away that they failed, or else there wouldn't be a John Connor to send someone back in time. For that matter, if they do succeed, then John Connor is dead in the future, the Machines don't know who the hell John Connor is or that he even exists, so they have no need to send a machine back in time to kill John Connor. So they don't send anyone back in time, and now John Connor lives. So John Connor is alive because there is no John Connor.

Fucking stupid time travel stories.
