Yep...pretty much the same and NO cell phones...lap tops....blah..blah...blah....totally boring for the most part.

That's exactly how it worked in WA when i was called for Jury duty. Only 10% or so was used passed lunch on the first day.

They didnt harasss us about cell phones and even had a separate lounge area with public computers you could use to pass the time

That's how it was in the last county I lived in but in this rural area I'm in now (Mayberry ) the letter specifically stated...to have none of that.

Never been called at all. I've always been curious, how does it work? Do you get paid for missing work, does your job have to pay? Whats the deal?

My job pays me regardless but the court system pays too...BUT not very much at all. I think it was some chump change like $12 a day but it's more now but I'm sure not much more.

I like the system here. It seems the waiting in a room with 200 people has been replaced with a web page and email notifications. I got assigned to a courtroom (I'm guessing for further jury selection), but got an email the night before that said, "Case dismissed, don't bother coming. We'll mark you down as having fulfilled your service."
