considering the identifiers on the back of my MOS I'd say I had a little training in unconventional warfare.

my unit did not have a 54E at the time so i was sent to school for that as well as my artillery MOS.

Nope they still never told me to throw my ammo at the enemy.

Typically this would have rattled me pretty bad, but for some reason I was really calm, and took my pistol from the center console and set it on my leg and looked at him......then he just ran back off.

I'll admit, that by the next stoplight my heart was racing and I was shaking from the rush..but I was rather proud of myself for staying calm.

Second time was just last year...I was in my office which is buried pretty deep in my firm, and I heard the secretary (the boss' daughter) saying "PLEASE LEAVE" so I grabbed the pistol I keep in the bottom of the filing cabinet and walked up front. She and I were the only ones in the office at the time and a crackhead had wondered in talking about how back in 1987 our office was a Dr's office and he had gotten a prescription here, and wanted a refill. He kept saying it and she had no idea what to do.
I didn’t RAISE the pistol, but rather just had it in my hand down by my side as I walked up.

When he saw me he looked at my hand and simply turned and walked back out. We both had a fit afterwards but laughed it off.
Still…that one had my pulse racing as it happened.

Neither one of these was eventful, or worthy of sending to some soldier of fortune magazine for publishing but in both cases, I certainly believe there would have been a different outcome had I not been armed.
And then you banged her on the boss' desk?

What the hell do the gun bunnies know about unconventional warfare?

Ended up in the middle of a gun fight last night while watching the guys on my softball team play their men's league. I'm assuming it was the local kurdish gangs going at it but about 15-20 shots of 9mm were fired from the parking lot about 100 yards away and we all ended up face down in the dirt. Scary. I am FURIOUS at the Nashville PD's response. Took 6 mins to even get someone on the phone at 911, a young cop was sent out and he just smiled and laughed when I told him what happened. He didn't even look to see if anyone was injured in the area, just got back in his car to write some notes. A suspecious car then came in the parking lot and the cop directed him to leave. It was one of the same damn cars that was there during the shooting and he didn't even question him.

I have lost faith that cops are ANYTHING other then note takers and clean up crew with a fancy badge and gun. I will be carrying mine everywhere from now on.

No, unfortunately, they're much more than that. They're the force that actively carries out laws meant to oppress normal people that are not out to kill or harm anyone else. They are tax collectors with guns and power. Hell, I wish they were just note takers and realized as much.

PS, I'm not trying to stalk you around the internets or anything.

I just like how when I got pulled over on the bike a few weekends ago, the cop comes flying up, lights and sirens blazing, and takes it super serious (well I was about to open my wallet and let my money fall out into his jurisdiction, of course it was serious business). Yet when 40 people are upset and face down in the dirt cause bullets are flying the take their sweet ass time and don't even seem to care. I really should have gotten that guys badge number.

When you got pulled over there was an opportunity for the city or state to make money, yes, they take that very very seriously.

When they responded to a bunch of gangbangers shooting in the air or whatever, there is no opportunity to make money, so they didn't care.

You should've told the cops there were gangbangers growing pot or something and that there were lots of nice cars ripe to be confiscated. They would've sent the whole state....maybe even the National Guard!

not to mention the fact that it's pretty safe to say that after running your plate number he knew you were not a threat to him. ah, good time to act like a bad ass is right after you figure out it's a safe place to do that.
I've been saying here for years that all the little "i'm a bad ass cowboy" cops should be required to serve at least two weeks per year in the inner city in order to keep their badge.
get stopped by a cop near where I work and it goes like this. "do you have a license?" (yes) "reason I stopped you was....." (ok) "slow the hell down will you?" (yes sir)
I have been stopped here a few times and it almost always goes that way. they have better things to do then play traffic cop. they'll tell you to slow down but they're not writing paperwork.
