Murphy and York were a couple of my early heros/role models.

Murphy is so bad ass that the army actually made an award in his name, the Audie Murphy Award. I tried for it twice and failed the board portion.

What they fail to mention is that Chuck Norris took that medal 20 out of 21 times it was awarded.

badassery on the level those folks achieved, is borderline inhuman, but ABSOLUTELY UNBEFUCKINGLIEVABLY AWESOME.

A little info on Alvin York with the five germans running towards him. He had three rounds left in his rifle ( P17 in .30-06 ), so he used his 1911 in .45 acp to shoot them starting with the last one and working to the front.

When asked about why he started in the back, he replied " If I would have shot the guy in front first, the rest would have turned and run away".
