Most places like Carfax can't do it because motorcycle VIN are in a different format and they can't search on those manufacturer codes. You can try calling your sheriff dept and be nice to them and see if they'll look it up.

If you call a Triumph dealer they can pull where the bike was sold from originally though that might not be the dealer it was originally delivered too. Dont know if anyone will have those records that you can access. A dealership will have the most info avail for you though.

I'm trying to find the dealer a bike was originally delivered to. I found a 2002 model bike with just 584 miles on it, and according to the VIN report, it wasn't titled until May of 2010. A little strange for an eight year-old motorcycle.

I suspect it was a dealer demo unit that for whatever reason was held onto for a very long time.

The bike was titled in Ohio (this year), somehow ended up at an auto brokerage in New York City, and is now being sold by a dealer just outside Chicago. The odometer hasn't changed since it was titled.

VIN SMT502FP82J139894 if anyone knows how to investigate this sort of thing.

It's a deal that seems too good to be true... I want to make sure it isn't exactly that before I make the 11-hour trip to pick it up.
I have bought a few bikes as old as 3 year out of Dealer Stock that had never been titled. While it seems odd it may be true

Of course the title is clean if it was just issued this May and it hasn't been ridden since.

I'm calling Triumph USA's customer service number tomorrow.
It was probably a demo bike to get those miles on it, would not be titled till it sold. And it's possible it was wrecked in that period, fixed by the dealership without an insurance claim and not reported, but that's not too likely unless an employee wrecked it maybe. The nice thing is, it's still under warrenty
