Default Triumph demo ride, newb goes offroading.

So an interesting day.

My bro and I headed to the demo day to ride some bikes that aren't ours. We get there pretty early and do the sign up thing. I'm riding a thruxton and he grabbed a speed triple.

After the riders meeting I'm next to a guy on a thunderbird (big cruiser type). He has the demo provided helmet, jacket, and gloves. To start things off he can't even turn on the bike. I'm thinking this can't be good. So off we go and he immediately stalls it and almost drops it. This is repeated about three more times at each light. Toward the end of the run we get to a nice marked 20mph 90deg turn. He goes in way to fast, scrapes the floor board, and ends up in the dirt. I laughed. Some people don't belong on motorcycles.

The thruxton is a really cool bike. The one I was on was outfitted with full Arrow pipes and sounded mean. Not sure if I would ever buy one. But hey, it was a free demo.

Did he drop it or just run off in the grass?

The Thunderbird is a sexy bike.

I wanted to take one for a spin at Daytona but was running short on time.

He kept it up. It was like a trainwreck, but it stayed on two.

I've always liked the Triumphs... even the older Daytona 600s. I'd like to test the 675, Tiger, or the new Street Triple R.

Don't they ask how long you have been riding? Or have at least taken the MSF?

This.

In Florida it's mandatory to take the MSF before an endorsement is issued so I guess its assumed that you've taken some sort of riders training.

it's next to impossible to get shops to allow test rides 'round here. This is the reason.

all fine bikes, the Tiger is by far my most favorite Triumph. I've had the pleasure of taking a few rides on our demo one.
