Default PC & HD TV question

I've seen the benefits of the higher than 60hz HD tv's do to movies with clarity, but do they do anything to games?

Not as glaring of a change, but yes On some 120hz and 240hz TVs for movies it almost looks like the foreground seperates from the background. I haven't seen that with games.

Best thing to do and what I have done is take my xbox to best buy and hook it up to different tv's to find the one that I thought looked the best.

The reason refresh rates make a difference in movies is because the are filmed at 24 fps which is not an even multiple of 30 Hz or 60 Hz so the TV has to repeat frames. I don't know what the frame rates are for a PS 3 or Xbox but its probably 60hz or a multiple of that so it shouldn't be an issue.

Thats the best way in my opinion. Play things you are used to watching and see what looks best to you. Same with speakers, play music you are used to hearing and find one that sounds the best to you. Your the one buying it.

I had a customer ask me what speakers I liked, (he told me he was in before and listened to some with another salesperson) and I told him I liked the Klipsch the best. I also told him that didn't matter because he was buying them not me. I played them all for him and he did like the same speakers that I liked but not as much as the ones he liked from the last time he heard them. The speakers I showed him do some things better then the ones he likes in his opinion but the ones he likes does a couple of other things a bit better. So in the end he decided to go with the Polks which is a good decision because he is the one that has to listen to them everyday.

After demoing them I decided that I still like the Klipsch better and if I was buying right then, those are the ones I would buy.

Get what you like and enjoy.

James

PS3 is 60hz and afaik one of the fastest sources you can get although some HD channels claim higher rates, the cable/sat boxes/companies then become the bottle neck.

See you should have bought my Alienware laptop! You could have dragged it down to BB with a HDMI or VGA cable no problem.

PC's will use whatever Hz the monitor supports.
