Default beautiful R7 for sale

Yamaha's R7, their low production model for an AMA and WSBK racer—and also their Suzuka 8 Hours machine—is one of the best looking tuning fork bikes of all time. Yamaha was slow to the Superbike party but what they learned with the FZR, OW01 and finally the YZF was put into the R7. It became a bike that spawned a million (or so) bench racing tales, from Rich Oliver putting one on the pole in its first race at Atlanta, Anthony Gobert beating Nicky Hayden at Sears on an R7 to the glorious days of Haga the R7 is seared into the memory banks of enthusiasts everywhere. From the "arch back" fuel tank to the classic "boomer" exhaust, the R7 is a bike that we will literally spend the rest of our lives pining for.

Rarely seen and just as rarely seen for sale, there is currently an R7 up for sale in Southern California. Honda employee Wayne Waszkiewicz is selling his 1999 R7.

Waszkiewicz describes his R7 this way:

1999 Yamaha R7. Has the factory superbike kit installed including carbon fiber ram air/high flow airbox, massive single piece radiator, Akrapovic exhaust, etc. Adjustable rearsets, factory Ohlins suspension front and rear, KLS quick shifter. Been in storage for many years. Approximately 2,500 miles. CA street legal, registration paid and current, title in hand. Bike is located in Manhattan Beach, CA. $17,500. 310-999-1881.

I don't see anything unusual about the tank or exhaust.

I hate how exclusivity makes this bike so expensive. It's gorgeous, but is it really that much better than a Gsxr 750?

Just like the Rc51, I'd love to own one. But I refuse to pay the price people are asking. There are so many newer, better bikes I could own for the same price.

This.
I drooled over the R7 many years back.
But, since it was nearly impossible to get one (and never for a reasonable price), I hung that one up.
